HWI CHARITY SWIMMING GALA
6/17/2015

JUNE 13TH 2015, WEST ISLAND SCHOOL

WELL DONE to all the children who took part in Saturdays swimming competition and helped raise a total of Hk$24,400 for the Nepal Emergency Fund.

For many young children, this was their first chance to participate in a real swim meet. Children from the HWI learn to swim programme were eligible, with those 5 and under taking part in a freestyle race across the pool – all swimmers were rewarded with a medal and lollipop!

The width races were followed by an ‘Exhibition Swim’ from some of our top swimmers – it was a great chance for the younger children and their parents to watch the big boys and girls swimming in a 100m Individual Medley race. A very impressive swim from Siobhan Haughey, Aisling Haughey, Sabrina Kwok, Aneekah Styles and Paige Deayton, plus the boys race featuring Miles Williams, Gordon Mason, Aaron Khemlyani, Ernest Wong and Ethan Grantham.

The 25m Freestyle races for each age group, starting with 5yrs and under, then got under way, with much enthusiasm, and lots of cheering from spectators for all the swimmers. The 25m Backstroke races followed, 25m Breaststroke, finishing with 25m Butterfly races. Well done to all the children who took part.

Many thanks indeed to those parents who helped the coaching team out as timekeepers – it was a very hot evening and we really appreciated your hard work!

ALL ENTRY FEES from the gala have been donated to the Nepal Emergency Fund. The amount raised in entry fees was $24,400,so MANY THANKS TO ALL FOR YOUR PARTICIPATION!
