HONG KONG OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS 2017.

A small team of HWI Swimmers competed at Victoria Park Swimming Pool in this end of season finale.

Jeffrey Chen, Sarah Chu, Aisling Haughey, Sabrina Kwok, Christina Tan, Kylie Woo and Miles Williams raced in various events throughout the weekend.

Day 1 Finals
Sabrina Kwok raced as part of two relays on the opening evening of HK Open. SCAA finished 4th in the inaugural 400m Mixed Medley Relay swimming the last leg 100 Free, she was then joined by Jeffrey Chen in the 400 Mixed Free Relay event and they improved to finish with the silver medal.

Day 2 Heats
Miles Williams and Jeffrey Chen both comfortably progressed into the final of the 100 free and will go again this afternoon hoping to improve on their heat swims. Jeffrey also will go in the 400 Free final later in the day.

Aisling Haughey also cruised into the final of the 100 Breaststroke, solid morning swim after jetting in from Ireland a couple of days ago.

Sabrina Kwok will be a busy swimmers this afternoon as she made both the 50m Back & 200m Back finals, Kylie Woo who also went well in the 200 Back will be back again this afternoon for finals.

Christina Tan finished 18th in the Open 100 Breaststroke swimming just outside her best time and they’re where 2 LC PB’s for the youngest swimmer at the meet Sarah Chu she finished 19th in the 100 Fly & 23rd in the 50 Free.

Day 2 Finals
100 Free
- Miles Williams picked up 4th overall and 2nd HK Based Swimmer with LC PB.
-Jeffrey Chen was 5th overall and 3rd HK Based Swimmer with LC PB .

100 Breast
- Aisling Haughey finished 5th overall and 3rd HK Based Swimmer.

50 Back
- Sabrina Kwok improved on heat swim and finished 6th and 4th HK Based Swimmer.

400 Free
- Jeffrey Chen Finished 8th in the 400 Free his gruelling schedule catching up with him.

200 Back
- Sabrina Kwok finished 4th in the 200 Back improving on heat swim and placing 2nd HK Based Swimmer.
- Kylie Woo finished 5th overall and 3rd HK Based Swimmer.
SCAA 4x100 Medley Girls that included Aisling Haughey and Sabrina Kwok finished 2nd.
SCAA 4x100 Medley Boys that included Miles Williams and Jeffrey Chen finished 4th

Day 3 Another good showing by all the HWI and SCAA swimmers today at Victoria Park. SCAA finished on the podium in the three team categories, Girls finished 3rd the Boys finished 2nd and overall Combined team 3rd.

Sabrina Kwok was first up in the finals and placed 7th in the 100 Free Final, she also had a another individual swim later in evening she came out Tied 1st in the 100 Back winning Gold for International & HK Based Swimmers.

Jeffrey Chen managed to come out on top in the 200 Free Final placing 2nd in the International however top HK Based swimmers with a PB.

Miles Williams also race the 200 Free final and placed 6th, just on his time from morning heats. Aisling Haughey raced again in the 200 Brs final and placed 6th overall improving on her time from the heats this morning. Aisling will be back into training tomorrow to get prepared for the World University Games in Taipei late August.

Miles Williams blasted out a big PB in the 50 Free finishing 3rd International Swimmers however winning Gold for HK Based Swimmer.

Girls 4x100 Free Relay with Sabrina Kwok (Her 12th Swim of the Meet;)) and Aisling Haughey finished 4th.

Boys 4x100 Free Relays with Jeffrey Chen, Miles Williams and Temana Short Anchoring the team placed 2nd in a closely fought battle with Hoi Tin.

Kylie Woo swam in the morning heats and finished Top 10 in the 100 Back just on her best time. There where 2 more PB’s for Sarah Chu in the 100 Free 1:02.12 & 50 Fly 30.90. Our other swimmer Christina Tan had 2 solid swims on best times in the 50 & 200 Brs.
