DIVISION 1 SWIM MEET REPORT

Short Course Division 1, at Victoria Park Swimming Pool, June 10 and 11, 2017

28 Harry Wright swimmers competed in the last short course division 1 meet.

Five of our swimmers achieved a ranking among the fastest three in their age group. Those swimmers were:

Sophie Donohugh (10 yrs.) achieved a silver medal finish in the 50 m backstroke. Her time of 35.82 was a personal best time. Sophie also made it into the “Top 8” in her age group in the 100 m IM (6.) and 200 m freestyle (6.)

Sarah Chu (12 yrs.) picked up a bronze medal in the 200 m butterfly in a time of 2:34.22. She had one more “Top 8” finish in the 200 m freestyle (5.) and achieved three personal best times.

Ma Zai Xiang (18 yrs.) won two bronze medals. First in the 200 m butterfly in a time of 2:08.78. He followed up with a second individual bronze medal in the 200 m freestyle touching in 1:52.23. Xiang made it in all four of his individual events into the fastest 8 in his category and anchored the SCA 4 x 100 m freestyle relay which provided him another bronze medal.

Kylie Woo (16 yrs.) won a bronze medal in the 50 m backstroke in a time of 30.42 and had a “Top 8” finish in the 200 m FR (7.).

Temana Short (15 yrs.) achieved the highest ranking of all our swimmers in the 1500 m freestyle. He won his age group in 16:50.25.

Four of our girls went on to win the silver medal in the 4 x 100 m freestyle relay for SCA. The team was Ariella Levy (17 yrs.) - split 1:00.46, Isabel Stowe (15 yrs.) - split 1:01.85, Kylie Woo (16 yrs.) - split 1:00.53 and Aneekah Styles (16 yrs.) - split 1:01.84 .

Besides those medal winners, we had an additional six swimmers that ranked in one or multiple events among the fastest eight swimmers in their age group. Those swimmers were Julian Chow, Alvin Ip, Ralph Lam, Annika Chu, Malin Leven and Sophia Tang.

In addition to those that ranked in the top of their age group we had five swimmers that raced in multiple events and achieved a personal best time in every single race. Those swimmers with outstanding improvements are: Nick De Chazal, Olivia Du, Leila Pimlott, Katelyn Tang and Barnaby Tibbatts.

A big well done goes out to all swimmers that were racing at the last division 1 meet.
