Four Mantas/Harry Wright swimmers travelled to Australia to attend the Australian Age Group Championships at the Sleeman Aquatic complex in Brisbane. Nathaniel Yeoh (13 yrs.) advanced in 5 of his 9 individual events into a final and took home three silver medals racing for a total of 6 days. He won his silver medals in the 200 m freestyle in a time of 2:02.63 as well as in the 200 m IM touching in 2:17.12 and the 400 m IM in 4:52.90. Temana Short (15 yrs.) had qualified to race in 5 events. His best result was a 14th place in the 50 m freestyle in a time of 24.85. Ella Fraser (14 yrs.) swam the 100 m breaststroke as well as the 200 m breaststroke. She achieved a personal best time in the longer event finishing in 2:48.28 finishing in 27th place. Malin Leven (13 yrs.) had achieved a qualification time to race the 200 m backstroke. Malin’s time of 2:32.33 put her in 27th place. Our swimmers returned from the Championships being more experienced having competed in one of the toughest and best organized age group swimming competitions in the world. We are now looking forward to seeing them compete at the Mantas Invitational Age Group Swimming Championships against swimmers of China and the Philippines. | |
