Policies

1. Application & Fees

Places are allocated on a first-come-first served basis, with a priority application procedure available for re-enrolling students. An acknowledgement email will be sent to all students to confirm receipt of their application. Please contact us at 2575 6279 or swimming@harrywright.com.hk if you do not receive an acknowledgement email or hear from us within 21 days of posting your application. Please check time, date and venue carefully and make note of any statutory holidays as outlined on the schedule and confirmation letter. No further reminder will be made.
Harry Wright International reserves the right to change course times, venues and dates at its discretion. Parents will be notified of any changes in advance whenever possible.

2. Withdrawal and Absences from Class

All fees are non-refundable once the course has commenced.
Withdrawal 21 days prior to the commencement of the course, will receive a full refund.
No refund or make up lesson will be arranged for students missing a lesson for any reason.

3. Cancellations

In the event of pool closure due to unforeseen circumstances, classes will be cancelled and make-ups will be scheduled where possible. In such cases, no refunds or credits will be issued.
Pool closure due to epidemic emergency such as Flu, Coronavirus, SARS, or similar that results in cancellation of classes, will not be refunded or credited.

4. Weather Cancellations

In the interest of students' safety, Harry Wright International reserves the right to cancel classes when a venue is deemed dangerous due to inclement weather. No refund, credit or make-ups will be provided.
During times of severe weather (i.e. rainstorms and typhoons) courses may be cancelled. For our weather policy, please see below. The cut-off times indicated have been designated to allow for students and instructors to travel safely to and from the venues.

5. Venues

Participation in activities at various private clubs have their own policies. These policies are outlined on the application form. When registering your child at a private club please ensure you read the club policies which supersede those of Harry Wright International.
Harry Wright International reserves the right to cancel courses due to insufficient enrolment. All efforts will be made to place students in a similar course. If none is available, a refund will be issued.

6. Parent and Guardian Responsibilities

All students must be under adult supervision while waiting for classes to commence. Parents and guardians who wait on site are required to remain at the venue of the activity.
All classes will finish on time. Please ensure your child is picked up promptly after the class. Parking is not available at all venues and therefore public transportation is recommended. Please click on City Bus and Kowloon Motor Bus for links to Public Transport websites.

7. Safety

Harry Wright International is not responsible for any injury to participants or damages or loss of property as a result of participation in our courses.
In case of a medical emergency, your child will be transferred to the nearest government hospital using the Hong Kong Government Emergency Medical Unit.

8. Information Policy

Harry Wright International may take photos and videos of swimmers from time to time for marketing and teacher education purposes. These photos will not be passed onto third parties.
Information provided will be used for the purposes of (a) processing your application for admission and (b) administration after admission.
The data collected by Harry Wright International will be kept confidential. You have the right to obtain access to and request correction of any information concerning you and your child held by Harry Wright International.
Requests for such access should be made in writing. Harry Wright International reserves the right to amend their policies from time to time.

Weather Policy for Rainstorm and Typhoon Signals

In the interest of your children's safety and in accordance with the guidelines of the EDB and Hong Kong Observatory, lessons will be cancelled in the event of adverse weather conditions. No refund, make up or credit will be provided. All swimming lessons taking place at school venues follow the policy below on the conditions under which lessons will be cancelled and the time at which cancellation comes into effect.

Classes will be cancelled if the Black Rainstorm or Typhoon Number 8 warning is still hoisted one hour prior to the commencement of each session.

Classes will resume two hours after the lowering of the Black Rainstorm or Typhoon Number 8 warning.

South China Athletic Association

Black rainstorm
Class will be suspended if the Black Rainstorm Warning signal is issued one hour before the specified class time. If the class has already started when signal is issued, the class will continue. Classes will resume 2 hours after the cancellation of Black Rainstorm signal.

Amber/Red rainstorm
Classes will continue.

T8
Classes are suspended on issue of Storm Warning signal No 8 or above, including classes that are in session. Classes will resume 2 hours after Signal No 8 is cancelled. For Signal No 3 or lower – classes will continue as normal.

Aberdeen Marina Club

During the winter season with Bubble in place:
Swimming Lessons will be held as normal during Amber and Red Rainstorm as well as Typhoon Signal 3. Lessons will be cancelled during Black Rainstorm and Typhoon Signal 8 and above.

Once Bubble is removed (Easter and beyond):
Lessons will continue to take place during Amber Rainstorm Warning, and Typhoon Signal 1. Lessons will not take place during Red or Black Rainstorm and Typhoon Signal 3 (and above). Lessons will also be suspended when Thunder & Lightning is within 5km of the Club (all pools will be closed).

Club Siena

Programme cancelled if:
T8 or above
Black/Red rainstorm
Lessons resume 2 hours after the lowering of the Black Rainstorm Signal or Typhoon Signal 8; and 1 hour after the Red Rainstorm Signal.

Discovery Bay Recreation Club

Programme cancelled if:
Thunderstorm warning
T3 or above
Black/Red rainstorm

Kellett School

Programme cancelled if:
T8 or above. Lessons resume within 2 hours of lowering.
Black rainstorm: resume within 2 hours of lowering
