Siobhán Haughey Secures Silver in the 100m Freestyle at the World Championships

We couldn't be prouder of our esteemed alumna, Siobhán Haughey, who clinched a remarkable Silver medal in the 100m Freestyle event with a blazing time of 52.56 on Friday.

On Wednesday Siobhán Haughey was unstoppable and determined to let none of the assembled ladies pass her on her way to the 200 m Freestyle podium.

A clearly joyous and happy Siobhan took the crown of World Champion in a time of 1:54.89 staying ahead of the field in a very dominant way throughout the race.

Siobhan had previously achieved a Bronze medal in the 100m Breastroke

In addition to Siobhán's outstanding achievements, our male swimmers, Ian Ho and Adam Chillingworth, showcased their prowess by making impressive appearances in their respective events, earning spots in the Semi-Finals.

Adam delivered a commendable performance on Thursday, competing in the 200m Breaststroke and finishing 14th with a time of 2:12.14.

Ian displayed his speed and skill, setting a new Hong Kong record with a phenomenal time of 21.83 in the 50m Freestyle prelims, followed by a stellar Semi-Final race where he touched in 11th place with a time of 21.84.

Ian's contributions extended to the 4x100m mixed Freestyle relay, where his lightning-fast split of 48.66 helped secure the team's qualification for the finals, ranking them 8th overall.

Looking ahead, we are eagerly anticipating the performance of the Hong Kong women's 4x100m IM relay team as they aim to achieve a top 16 ranking in the world, a crucial step towards Olympic qualification for the upcoming Paris Games.

A big round of applause is in order for our talented pool swimmers and open water competitor, Keith Sin, whose stellar performances contributed to the Hong Kong team's success.

Special recognition goes to Coach Chui Wai Chun, who served as the Team Coach for the Hong Kong China Team in Doha, guiding our athletes to excellence on the world stage.

Congratulations to all on your outstanding achievements! 🎉 #TeamHarrWrightSCA #SwimmingExcellence #WorldChampionships
