Harry Wright Swimmers Shine Internationally: Isobel Tran Breaks US National Record, Sean Wong Competes at Thailand Championships

Harry Wright swimmers continue to make their mark on the international stage with outstanding performances at prestigious competitions around the world. We are delighted to share the achievements of two of our elite swimmers competing overseas.

Isobel Tran: Breaking Records at NCSA Age Group Championships

Twelve-year-old Isobel Tran, a member of the Harry Wright Performance Squad, was invited to compete with NOVA of Virginia at the prestigious NCSA (National Collegiate Swimming Association) Age Group Championships held in March 2026. This invitational competition features heats and finals format racing in short course yards (SCY), which is the standard pool format used in the United States.

First-Time SCY Success

Although it was Isobel's first time competing in the short course yards format, she demonstrated exceptional adaptability and competitive excellence. She made finals in all of her individual events, showcasing her technical proficiency and ability to perform at the highest levels of age group swimming.

Record-Breaking Relay Performances

Beyond her individual achievements, Isobel made significant contributions to her relay teams, helping NOVA of Virginia achieve remarkable record-breaking performances:

4x100m Freestyle Relay - Virginia State RecordIsobel and her teammates broke the Virginia state record in the 4x100m freestyle relay, demonstrating the exceptional caliber of the team and Isobel's contribution to this achievement.

2x50m Freestyle Relay - US National RecordIn an even more impressive achievement, Isobel's team broke an 8-year-old US age group national record in the 2x50m freestyle relay. This is a remarkable accomplishment that reflects the exceptional talent and speed of the relay team.

International Representation

Isobel's participation with NOVA of Virginia demonstrates her status as an elite swimmer capable of competing at the highest levels of international age group swimming. Her ability to adapt to a different pool format (short course yards) and immediately perform at a high level speaks to her technical excellence and competitive maturity.

Sean Wong: Competing at Thailand Age Group Championships

Sean Wong Yik Yan, a member of the Harry Wright Performance Squad, represented Hong Kong as part of the national Age Group team at the Thailand Age Group Championships held in Bangkok from April 4-8, 2026.

Competitive Performance in Individual Medley

Sean competed in the 19+ Age Group 200m Individual Medley event and delivered a strong performance:

200m Individual Medley - 4th Place

•Time: 2:10.84

•Age Group: 19 and Over

Sean's 4th place finish in this demanding event demonstrates his competitive capability at the international level and his technical proficiency in the Individual Medley discipline.

Valuable International Experience

While Sean received a disqualification in the 400m Individual Medley event, his participation in this prestigious international championship provided valuable experience competing against elite swimmers from across Asia.
