Harry Wright Swimmers Excel at HKGSA Division 3 Short Course Championship Post-Lunar New Year

The Harry Wright Performance Squad had an outstanding showing at the HKGSA Division 3 Short Course Championship (Part 2), held on Saturday, February 28th at Shing Mun Valley Swimming Pool. This was the first major competition following the Lunar New Year break, and Harry Wright sent a large team to compete.

The competition was a full day of racing, running from 9:00 AM until nearly 8:00 PM, with swimmers competing across all age groups. The dedication and hard work displayed by our swimmers, coaches, and supporting parents throughout this long day was truly commendable.

Standout Individual Performances

Our swimmers delivered impressive individual performances throughout the championship:

Ilythya Knecht (15-17 Girls) dominated the freestyle and breaststroke events, winning gold in the 50m Freestyle (27.89) and claiming silver in the 100m Breaststroke (1:23.79). Her versatility across multiple strokes demonstrates the quality of her training and technique.

Chan Ho Him Dickson (13-14 Boys) earned gold in the 100m Breaststroke with an impressive time of 1:10.88, showcasing his strength in this discipline.

Chan Yat Fung Evan (15-17 Boys) claimed gold in the 50m Backstroke (28.72), demonstrating his technical proficiency in the backstroke.

Lee Chun Hei (11-12 Boys) won gold in the 50m Backstroke (34.16), showing excellent form in the younger age group.

Wall Isabella (15-17 Girls) earned bronze in the 50m Freestyle (29.90), contributing to the team's medal count.

Cheeseman Alexandra (13-14 Girls) claimed silver in the 50m Freestyle (30.13), demonstrating consistent performance in this event.

Ching Kaitlyn (11-12 Girls) earned silver in the 50m Backstroke (36.77) and placed 6th in the 50m Freestyle (31.22), showing versatility across events.

Man Aidan Chun Yin (13-14 Boys) achieved 4th place in the 50m Freestyle (26.96) and 8th place in the 50m Backstroke (33.75), demonstrating competitive performance in both events.

Arnold Kaija (13-14 Girls) placed 5th in the 50m Freestyle (31.16), contributing to the team's strong showing in freestyle events.

Nunes Cesar (11-12 Boys) earned 6th place in the 100m Breaststroke (1:21.64), showing solid performance in the breaststroke.

Comprehensive Team Participation

Our swimmers competed across all age categories from 8 and Under through 15-17 years, demonstrating the depth and breadth of our competitive program. Swimmers participated in a wide range of events including freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke, showcasing the versatility of our squad.

The strong performances at the Division 3 Championship demonstrate that our swimmers have returned from the Lunar New Year break in excellent form and ready to compete at the highest levels. This is an important milestone as we head into the remainder of the season.
