Open Water Results and Farewell to Gordon Mason
1/16/2018

On the 7th of Jan some intrepid swimmers braved the 18 degree cold water, all without wetsuits, at Golden Beach for the Kamachi OWS series part 2 race. Some great results especially considering the conditions, and some big age groups! Awesome work guys, keep it up!

Highlight was watching Gordon Mason smash the 5km for a comfortable win.

We now say goodbye to our Coach and Star Swimmer Gordon Mason! Gordon has been invited to train under the Rio USA Olympic Team Coach Dave Kelsheimer in Santa Monica, with the aim to qualify for the July 2018 World Junior Open Water Championships, and long term goal of reaching the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. He will be training alongside American swimmers Jordan Wilimovsky, and Katy Campbell. A great opportunity and pathway for Gordon on his journey to become a professional Open Water Swimmer. We wish Gordon all the luck in the world. We hope to see him in the Tokyo 2020 10km Open Water!
